ATTN: website functional but not yet completed
Welcome,
This website has been created for the new owners of my axies and for people just looking for information on them. It's got all the info you will need to setup for your axolotl and keep him or her happy. I am a hobby breeder in the wollongong area (1hr south of Sydney) and care very much for my animals, when you get your axie from me they will always be in a healthy condition, It is unfortunate how many axolotls for sale are very unhealthy (missing limbs, fungi covered and shrunken gills) due to poor water, lack of space and other things.
I do not do this for profit, the money I receive from buyers will be almost even with the cost of raising.
Thank you for visiting,
Nina.

THE AXOLOTL
The Axolotls scientific name is Ambystoma Mexicanum, they are native to only a few lakes and rivers of mexico and are a speckled brown to dark brown in colour in the wild but come in quite the variety of colours as pets. Unfortunately due to large growth in population in that area axolotls are risking extinction and/or beloved to already be extinct.
They are commonly known as a mexican walking fish although they are not a fish but a salamander, I'm pretty sure they're the only forein imported salamander legal in Australia. The Axolotl is the only salamander which doesn't leave its larval form to morph into adult form and walk on land, they stay in their aquatic form and are still able to reproduce. Axololts do rarely morph into terrestrial form as pets, usually due to bad conditions and are believed to not live for long after the morph as it is very stressful for the axolotl. In the wild they would unfortunately morph more commonly due to their habitats condition.
The axolotl is able to regenerate body parts, So if they lost a leg, gills or a part of their tail it will grow back almost to normal depending on the damage and how old the axolotl is. They have been studied for a long time now due to this unusual ability, there are documented research where organs where regenerated and even parts of the brain.
